Lindsay Bird Mpetyane Lindsay Bird Mpetyane's Aboriginal name is Artola Art Nanaka Yunga Areteca. He lives together with his wife Mavis Petyarre, also an artist, and his three daughters in the Utopia area. As one of the few male participants, Lindsay was involved in the famous batik project at Utopia, the artworks of which toured Australia and overseas from 1977 to 1987. Lindsay Bird Mpetyane was instrumental in making acrylic paintings more important at Utopia. His artworks are characterised by great precision and fine colour combinations. After Emily Kame Kngwarreye, he was one of the first Aboriginal artists to have solo exhibitions. Lindsay is a very successful aboriginal artist with collections in many countries, and his creations are much sought after for investment and pleasure. - National Gallery of Australia, Canberra
