There is a stunning exhibition at the MCA this month.
John Mawurndjul is a Kuninjku artist from Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. He is know as one of the masters of Rarrk (the technique used to achieve the fine cross hatching on bark paintings.) You can read about John Mawurndjul at the MCA.
Gannon House Gallery has a new selection of work arrive from the Buku Larrngay Mulka (Yirrikala) community in Arnhem Land. The carvings from this area depict Wayin (birds), Mokuy (Spirits) and gurtha (fire design). The carvings are on a light balsa wood and have the very intricate patterning that this are is known for.
