Lynette Corby also known as Lynette Daniels, was born circa 1958 at Haasts Bluff. She lived at Papunya in her early years where she began painting, moving to Mount Liebig in the 1980’s.
Lynette worked at the Watiyawanu Community at Mt. Liebig where she specialised in the Luritja language,
becoming an assistant teacher at the local primary school.
Lynette, while painting traditional Dreamings and stories, is capable of transposing these in a contemporary and stylised manner that is unique. Lynette works with many different mediums including acrylics, lino printing, screen printing on garments, silk printing, basket weaving and sketching. Her application and colour use is
dramatic yet balanced and she has perfected her craft. When painting onto linen, Lynette applies her paint thickly to create texture and depth and tends towards the use of strong, earthy colours reminiscent of the Mt Leibig landscape.
In 1997 she entered in the North Territory Fashion Award with a self designed screen printed garment and since then her work has been in several exhibitions, including the 2003 Telstra Awards Survey Show.
