David Lake is an oil painter of the Australian Landscape. He has been painting for more than thirty years. Originally from Sydney he now resides in the small town of Newbridge in the NSW central tablelands.
It was during Primary school that David began to develop an interest in drawing and subsequently painting. Birds and animals provided inspiration initially which gradually changed to the landscape during the early and mid 1980’s. Lake’s passion rests in depicting the landscape in a representational manner, capturing the effect of both light and atmosphere.
Lake has won several awards and commendations since 1991, including the Combined Art Societies of Sydney – Artist of the Year for 2007 and 2008. David was also one of ten finalists in an international landscape competition run by the International Artist Magazine in 2006, and a finalist in the $35,000 Country Energy Prize for Landscape Painting on three occasions.
In 1999 David was welcomed as an Exhibiting Member of the Royal Art Society of NSW and in 2002 elevated to the status of Associate. He is also a member of the Oatley 101 Society of Artists, and an occasional tutor. His work has appeared in Australian Artist Magazine and he is included in
Max Germaine’s Artists & Galleries of Australia (1990 edition).
Lake’s work is held in private and municipal collections in
Australia and private collections overseas, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, and the United States of America
