Eileen Gordon is one of Australia’s most prominent glass artists. She and her husband Grant Donaldson, also a glass artist work from their Studio which they founded in 1990. Eileen was born in Norway to Scottish parents, both skilled glass engravers. Being the 2nd
generation of glass artists in her family, Eileen was raised with the appreciation of glass as a medium for which to express her artistic sole.
Eileen started her glass training in England and where she graduated from the Brierly Hill Glass School. In 1982 Eileen was accepted into the Jam Factory Craft Centre in Adelaide S.A., where she completed a 3 year traineeship. By 1985 Eileen had exhibited her work around Australia.
To gain experience in setting up a studio she helped establish Tasmanian Glassblowers for 2 years. In 1987 she returned to the UK where she was employed as a glassblower for Isle of Wight Glass and later for Okra Glass in the West Midlands.
The Gordon Studio Glassblowers have built a reliable reputation supplying galleries around Australia and overseas with their own production range as well as creating both large and small scale one-off art pieces and limited editions to private collectors and the corporate world.
