Svetlana Soldatova

Svetlana was born in 1962, Kyiv, Ukraine. She Graduated from the Department of Painting, Kyiv State T.G. Shevchennco Art College in 1981. In the years following Art College, she painted for ‘Veselka’ Publishing House, Kiev Monumental and Decorative works, The State Musical Theatre for Children, and became a member of the Institute of Ukrainian Painters in 1988. Svetlana held Solo exhibitions and was involved in numerous Group exhibitons in the Ukraine and Russia.
In 1978 she became one of the youngest artists to win the Ukranian National Art prize.

Since moving to Australia in 1995, Svetlana has exhibited regularly.

From 1997, Svetlana has been painting for Gannon House Gallery, The Rocks, NSW. Her highly intricate work has come to focus on the natural Australian flora. The paint is left thick on the canvas, giving an interesting textural quality to the work.
