Ceremonial Spear Thrower

Early 20th Century incised hardwood spear thrower featuring an emu and landscape. Spear throwers were used to launch spears, increasing their trajectory. More decorative pieces were produced for use in ceremony and later specifically for sale. This piece has finely incised decorations on hardwood, bound with spinifex at the base.
