Biography

Dulcie Long Pwerle was born in 1979. She is an Anmatyerre woman from the Utopia. Many of her family members are established artists including Greeny Purvis, Gloria Petyarre, Kathleen Petyarre and Emily Kame Kngwarreye. Dulcie's mother is the highly successful artist Jeannie Petyarre who also paints the bush medicine stories from the region.

Dulcie’s paintings depict her totem ‘Bush Yam’ and often incorporate the body paint designs associated with women's ceremony in the area. Her paintings are reminiscent of Minnie Pwerle's paintings.
